Esther by Hugo Weisgall at City Opera in NYC

City Opera’s season gets under way this weekend — with a reconstituted production of Hugo Weisgall’s “Esther,” given its premiere by the company in 1993. Esther runs at the Koch Theater Nov. 7-19. "Tribute": The Chamber Music of Judith Shatin

On November 13 the Living Artist Concert Series at Deering Estate presents "Tribute" a concert featuring composer Judith Shatin with the Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble. They will perform Shatin's chamber works View from Mt. Nebo and Doxa linking historical wartime works by Louis Ferdinand of Prussia and Erich Korngold.

The Living Artist Concert Series (LACS) combines ensemble performances with lectures, visual art exhibits, environmental awareness and interpretive programs. It acquaints the public with the best of South Florida's artistic spirit through collaborations with faculty from the University of Miami and Florida International University, principal players of regional, national, and international professional orchestras, top youth performers and national/international guest composers. Concerts are held in the historic Stone House Ballroom - which provides intimate seating for 125 guests, possesses superb natural acoustics for chamber music and offers a perfect environment for the exhibition of visual art.
