40+ FREE JULY EVENTS AT SUMMER ON THE HUDSON:
JULY 19: FRANK LONDON’S KLEZMER BRASS ALL-STARS AT RIVERSIDE PARK SOUTHMore than 40 free events with internationally acclaimed artists will be presented in July at the 9th annual Summer On the Hudson, one of New York City’s largest free summer festivals, The six-month series, which opened May 3 and runs through October 11, is an annual summer arts and cultural festival in Riverside Park South, West 59th St. to West 72nd Street at the Hudson River, presented by The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
There will be an enormous variety of other events in music, dance and theater, most running through August, as well as kayaking, yoga, pilates and kids’ soccer and basketball. performances Food and drink is for sale at the park’s Pier I Café. All events are FREE to the public and are programmed by Robin Schatell, Riverside Park Director of Programming.

La Cumbiana NY performs music from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Colombia in both TRADITIONAL (Gaitas y Tambores) and TROPICAL (Modern Papayera)formats.
La Cumbiamba NY is an ensemble that performs concerts and workshops with traditional instruments from the African Diaspora in Colombia, as well as indigenous and European. All of which are blended together in the traditional musical styles that developed throughout the colonial era, and continue to evolve.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1986, Jonathan has already played with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, Irvin Mayfield and Nicholas Patyon and has currently performed with Harry Connick Jr., Cassandra Wilson and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and has quickly become a rising star in the jazz world.
Aug 9 Romashka /Gypsy Dance Party
Romashka is a driving force in New York City's burgeoning gypsy and balkan music scene, playing music from Russia, Romania, the Balkans, and beyond. Lithuanian-born singer Inna Barmash fronts a band of nine versatile NY musicians: violin, viola, accordion, guitar, trumpet, clarinet/saxophone, tuba, and percussion.
Aug 16 Los Soneros de Oriente /Cuban Son
Taking their name from the region of Cuba that is most famous for Son Montuno, Los Soneros de Oriente represent a lifelong commitment to traditional Cuban music. Composed primarily of former members of the great band, Son del la Loma, Los Soneros pay a tribute to that group and its founder, the late Armando Sanchez, who dedicated his life to the maintenance of Son. This is the music of the countryside and the mountains, based on the Clave and Tres, with the trumpets toasting the top.
