KlezFest London and Jewish Song Summer School
Jewish music and song course
Sunday 10–Friday 15 July 2005 (daily 9.15am–11.00pm)
Frank London and the Klezmatics and other inspirational teachers: Michael Alpert, Josh Dolgin, Merlin Shepherd, Sophie Solomon, Deborah Strauss and Jeff Warschauer, present six days of intensive klezmer experience: singing, dancing, instrumental and ensemble workshops and masterclasses in the style, ornamentation and repertoire of Eastern European Jewish music, for amateur and professional musicians – no previous experience needed. Runs parallel with a six-day Jewish Song School exploring the repertoire, interpretation and pronunciation of Jewish songs in many directed by Shura Lipovsky, of Amsterdam with Jacinta from Paris, Lorin Sklamberg, Michael Alpert (New York) and Polina Achkenazi Shepherd (Brighton) for leisure and professional singers. Includes Concert: Klezmer Klimax III The ultimate klezmer performance by the Klezmatics and some of the world’s most acclaimed performers as above. Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre

Ot Azoy! Yiddish Language and song
Sunday 17–Friday 22 July 2005 (daily 9.30am–6.30pm)
‘Ot Azoy’ means ‘This is the way’ - to learn Yiddish, quickly and easily, and with lots of fun in a warm friendly environment, right in the heart of London. Intensive language tuition by international experts and also Yiddish song and film. For complete beginners to intermediate standards. Directed by Dr Khayele Beer of University College London with Pesakh Fiszman (New York) and Sonia Pinkasuvitch (Brussels).
