Join Aaron Alexander’s Midrash Mish Mosh and Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All-Stars for an all out Eastern European world music showdown as they kick off their European Tours. In addition to sharing band members, these two bands find inspiration from the same source: traditional Eastern European Jewish party music, or Klezmer. While the elemental material is the same, each has molded klezmer into their own modern musical contructs and the result is nothing short of world music fusion at its finest. "…dueling drummers pound infectious klezmer-rooted music through round holes, embracing jazz, thrash-punk, Balkan and African rhythms." -John Schaeffer, WNYC Radio ” ... a group that defies phony political barriers and exposes solid musical commonalties among Roma, Jewish, and Arab music.” -Elliott Simon, All About Jazz Aaron Alexander’s Midrash Mish Mosh play Alexander’s original compositions which fuse the old modes and forms of Eastern European Jewish music with the freedoms of jazz harmony. Adding electric instruments, Balkan and African rhythms and thrash punk energy to the mix, the dueling drums of Alexander and Michael Sarin partnered with the some of the finest players from the downtown scene create a truly new world music experience. At the Knitting Factory will be: Matt Darriau - clarinet, Tim Otto – saxophone/clarinet, Frank London – trumpet, Curtis Hasselbring – trombone, Brad Shepik – guitar, Fima Ephron - bass, Mike Sarin – drums, Aaron Alexander – drums. Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All-Stars is a fun, village style klezmer brass band that is constantly evolving and bringing in new collaborators. Frank London makes each performance unique by improvising arrangements on the spot with players who are skilled and obviously inspired by the band’s ever-changing dynamic.
