With lyrics in Greek, Spanish, Hebrew and Moroccan, SMADAR performs Moroccan Gypsy music with a unique Middle-Eastern sound. They will perform material from their brand-new release, "Smadar." Members of the band are: Smadar Levi (vocals); Uri Sharlin (piano, accordion); Harel Shachal (saxophone); Pedro Da Silva (sitar, Portuguese guitar); Emanuel Mann (bass); Tomer Tzur (drums), and Ramzi El-Idlibi (darbuka).

Hip version of songs in English written by Jews, rocking versions of Yiddish songs written about Jews, and soulful versions of Hebrew songs written for Jews - all sung by the stunning voices of the female vocal trio ASHIRA (Arianne Slack, Laura Lenes, and Leah Moss), and backed by the swinging MATT TEMKIN'S YIDDISHE JAM BAND (Dan Cousin, musical director). Ashkenaz Canadian Cabaret

Ashkenaz, A Festival of New Yiddish Culture 2004 a festival of music in Toronto Canada this weekend. The Canadian Cabaret, taking place late Saturday night (10pm), Sept. 4th, is again hosted by Theresa Tova (she was very funny and effective last time), who is otherwise involved in a number of key programs and not to be missed.

The Canadian Cabaret brings together a considerable number of Toronto performers, and is usually very well received. A few brand new projects: firstly, new yiddish music by the Toronto Yiddish (and English, and Hebrew) poet Simcha Simchovitch set to music by Lenka Lichtenberg with arrangements by the multi-talented Brian Katz who will be playing with Lenka. Mr. Simchovitch will be there as well. Secondly, another female singer, Isabel Fryszberg, and Lenka are launching a "Barry Sisters" act in another part of the program.

The 15th Klezmer Festival in Raanana, Israel

The annual festival of the Jewish music will take place on Wednesday on 4th of August in the Amphitheater of Raanana park. It's one of the well known klezmer festivals in Israel. The performers of 15th festival are:
